Today is the day that Cannes lost all legitimacy.

The three chinned slug was awarded the Palme D'Or award. And you though you wouldn’t live to see the day when art and main stream politics converged. More then that, the French were allowed to behead an American president live on Euro TV. Just kidding.

But the significance of awarding the Palme D'Or should not be lost on anyone. It is a political statement and the message, once translated, is clear.

“We, tha weesel communiti currently occuupyeeng the territory south of England, loathe all that is American and espezially hate your le prezident for because of him wee will no longher have private oil benefits with Mr. Saddam. So to really hit our point of hatred home wee will award our highest honor to a typical fat ugly American.”

It is further worth noting that the film received a meager 75% approval rating on RottenTomatoes.com, whereas “Mean Girls,” “Shrek 2” and even “Miracle” did much better.

Rumsfeld Must Stay

William Safire makes a great case for why Donald Rumsfeld should maintain his post as Secretary of State.

Many leftists forget that it was Rumsfeld himself who established the bipartisan panel of experts and attorneys who in-turn recommended that Al-Quaeda combatants be given certain rights, which they were.

So lets drop the politics and allow the man to do his job. After all, our lives are at stake.

Torture is both unlawful and morally abhorrent. But what about gathering intelligence from suspected or proven terrorists by codified, regulated, manipulative interrogation? Information thus acquired can save thousands of lives. Will we now allow the pendulum to swing back to "name, rank, serial number," as if suspected terrorists planning the bombing of civilians were uniformed prisoners of war obeying the rules of war?

The United States shows the world its values by investigating and prosecuting wrongdoers high and low. It is not in our political value system to scapegoat a good man for the depraved acts of others. Nor does it make strategic sense to remove a war leader in the vain hope of appeasing critics of the war.

This secretary of defense, who has the strong support of the president, is both effective and symbolic. If he were to quit under political fire, pressure would mount for America to quit under insurgent fire. Hang in there, Rummy! You have a duty to serve in our "long, hard slog."

Drag Queen Gang Terrorizes South

(Birmingham, Alabama) When a queen goes to a gala she wants to arrive in style, and that say Birmingham police is what led a gang of marauding drag queens on a crime wave that targeted exclusive car dealerships in five southern states and Michigan.

Police tell 365Gay.com that as many as a dozen drag queens were members of the gang. They would descend on car dealerships, scope out the best of the best on the lots, and then steal them to drive to drag beauty pageants throughout the South.
About a dozen cars have been recovered but nearly 20 more are still unaccounted for. In one of the cars found by police near a gay club the trophies were still in the backseat.

"It was all about arriving in grand style at these pageants," Sgt B. A. Treadeway of the Birmingham Police Department told 365Gay.com.

Affirmative-action idiocy at its worst.

Donna Brazile is once again trying hard to be relevant. Her new attempt at capturing 15 minutes of fame is a Kerry bashing piece in the Roll Call in which she expresses her discontent at the fact that Kerry has yet to appoint a single minority to a top campaign position.

Now, I love Kerry bashing. All rational people should do it because not only is it healthy, but recent studies have shown that an increase in expressed hatred towards John Kerry is correlated with being educated, wealthy, good looking, and likely to score more often. (Correlation is not exclusive of causality). However, Donna lacks most of these characteristics and yet she maintains, in her typical narrow-minded way, that Kerry has failed to embrace affirmative action and that democrats are on the verge of loosing the minority vote.

My responses are the following:

Firstly, Kerry can embrace minorities in other ways. He does not need to place them in top positions within his campaign in order to win the minority vote. He can simply sleep with them or grope them. We can learn a lot from an Austrian.

Secondly, Donna Brazile giving advice about the importance of minorities within campaigns is idiotic. The woman, a minority herself, managed Al Gore’s presidential campaign and Al Gore lost. What the hell makes her an authority on the issue? If anything, her precedent suggests that minorities should not be managing campaigns.

Thirdly, I recommend that John Kerry hire Brazile as his campaign manager.
